Baptism & Confirmation
All parent who are seeking Baptism (often called “Christening”) for their child are invited to a Preparation Evening. We also encourage families to be part of our worshipping community. At the Preparation Evening we explain what Baptism is all about, discuss what it means to be a part of our church fellowship and arrange dates for Baptism services. We hold Baptism services on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 12.30pm in St. Thomas’ following the main morning service, however on occasion we have the Baptism in the morning service itself. To book a place on the next Preparation Evening please complete the contact form and we’ll be in touch. Alternatively, we’d be delighted if you came to meet us at one of our services in the meantime – services that are especially children friendly include Story Church, Praise and Play or Allsorts Services.
In Infant Baptism promises are made on behalf of an child by the godparents. At Confirmation, these promises are made again by the individual – this “confirms” what was said for them as a child. We hold Confirmation classes for young people and adults each year, and toward the end of November a Bishop visits to lead our Confirmation service. If you are interested in learning more about Confirmation and what it means to be a member of the church family, please complete the contact form or have a chat to the vicar at one of our services.
